CREATION
The creation of the Marion County Regional Planning Commission and adoption of the subdivision regulations took place in the mid 1960's to service unincorporated Marion County. Part-time planning services were contracted through the State Planning Office. At that time, the County didn't have a locally staffed office. They realized early on there was a great potential for growth, therefore in 1975, a full time local office (Marion County Planning Office) with Planning Staff was opened.

PLAT REVIEW
Plat Review Day is held on Tuesday, two weeks prior to each Planning Commission meeting at the Marion County Planning Office from 9:00 a.m. - Noon. Only two copies of a plat are required to be turned in for plat review.

Preliminary and Final Plats of a development can't be submitted at the same meeting for approval.
The Planning Commission's duties are enforcement of the County's Subdivision Regulations. They review plats at their meetings and either grant approval or denial of Preliminary and/or Final Subdivision Plats.
