MARION COUNY BUILDING
With continuing growth and need for quality buildings, the County created the Marion County Building Inspections Office. A certified Building Inspector was hired and building codes were adopted in 1993. Code enforcement services unincorporated Marion County. The County adopted and the Building Inspector enforces the following 2006 editions of the International Codes:
1. International Building Code;
2. International Energy Conservation Code;
3. International Existing Building Code;
4. International Fire Code;
5. International Fuel Gas Code;
6. International Mechanical Code;
7. International Plumbing Code;
8. International Property Maintenance Code, and
9. International Residential Code
Effective immediately and in accordance with State Law, ALL Plumbers and Mechanical Contractors MUST BE LICENSED.
Plumbers and/or Mechanical Contractors are now required to obtain Building Permits for all work performed in unincorporated Marion County.

MOBILE HOME PERMITS
To obtain a mobile home permit you must submit the following:
1. A copy of your septic application;
2. Copy of the tax map that shows the property the mobile home will be placed on, and
3. 9-1-1 address. This is obtained from the 9-1-1 Office at 837-1282.
With this infomation you can apply for a mobile home permit. Marion County has a Mobile Home Resolution in place that states all mobile homes must be placed on an individual lot. The lot sizes required are as follows:
a. If there is public water on the property the minimum lot size is
15,000 sq. ft., and
b. If there is well water the minimum lot size is 30,000 sq. ft.
Set Back Requirements are:
Front Yard - 40' Side Yard - 10' Rear Yard - 25'
In accordance with State law, mobile homes must be setup by an installer licensed with the State of Tennessee.

FEMA
Any property lying in the floodplain or if a property's elevation is questionable a Flood Elevation Certificate must be submitted prior to issuance of a building permit.
The Marion County Building Inspector was appointed to administer and implement the provisions of the County's Floodplain Resolution, which covers unincorporated Marion County.

CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
A C.O. is issued after the structure has passed the Final Building Inspection.
